SEQUIM — A Mossyrock man and a Sequim woman arrested Monday afternoon near Sequim for investigation of burglary, theft and other charges in Lewis County may be responsible for as many as 10 break-ins over the weekend, according to news reports.
Anthony S. Depuisaye-Greene, 18, and his reported girlfriend, Deserai B. Johnson, also 18, were being held in the Clallam County jail without bail Tuesday.
Clallam County Undersheriff Ron Peregrin said weapons and a stolen vehicle were confiscated by sheriff’s deputies after they were tracked to a home near Sequim and arrested.
Mossyrock Police Chief Jeremy Stamper told KING-TV news that the couple may be responsible for as many as 10 break-ins over the weekend. The couple are not charged with 10 crimes.
Attempts to contact Stamper on Tuesday were unsuccessful.
Police said the Mossyrock crimes began Thursday and ended Sunday.
Depuisaye-Greene is charged with having an outstanding Class C felony warrant, second-degree burglary, residential burglary, third-degree theft and third-degree malicious mischief, records show.
Johnson faces charges of being wanted on a Class C felony warrant, second-degree burglary, residential burglary and third-degree theft.
Mossyrock Police Officer Rebecca Sutherland told the Centralia Chronicle newspaper that a 17-year-old Mossyrock woman was arrested Sunday.
She is accused of being a lookout for the couple, KING-5 said.
Her name was withheld because she is a juvenile.
The three are accused of breaking into one home at least five times while the owners were camping, NWCN reported.
Police said the teens took guns, ammunition and cash.
They’re also accused of stealing a car and a diamond ring from another home.
Stamper said the crimes were allegedly committed within 300 yards of the Mossyrock police station.
Stamper said when he was able to get a name of one of the two who were wanted that officers found a cellphone that was being used in Sequim.
Clallam County deputies, with the assistance of the Sequim Police Department, found a stolen car, a Toyota RAV4, and one stolen handgun.
“We had information that these people might be heading up our way,” Peregrin said.
“They had friends up there. They had a couple of places and friends’ places that [deputies and police] were watching.”
Peregrin said the suspects escaped from the home but were later spotted and apprehended.
He said deputies were taking inventory of the recovered stolen property.
“All that stuff’s being put together, and it’s going to be turned over to Mossyrock Police Department,” the undersheriff said.
Mossyrock is located in south-central Lewis County, about 125 miles southeast of Sequim.
