SEQUIM — Students in the Sequim School District have until 4 p.m. Monday to submit an entry to the 10th annual Student Film Festival, hosted by the Sequim Education Foundation.
At stake this year is almost $8,000 in scholarships and prizes.
All students in the district are eligible
Students interested in participating can submit a film of six minutes or less at the Sequim Schools District office, 503 N. Sequim Ave.
The entry fee for students and adults is $5, with the proceeds going towards the scholarships earned by the filmmakers.

Festival on April 17
The festival will be at 7 p.m. April 17 in the Sequim High School auditorium.
This year’s festival will include a community service film category because of a donation from Sequim Sunrise Rotary.
Other categories are general films and an environmental award.
Trophies will be given for best actor and best actress.
“All films are judged by people in the film or art industry,” said Elna Kawal, film festival chairwoman.
“The judges are not allowed to talk to each other until after they have turned in their score sheet, so even they don’t know who the winners are until they are announced at the festival.”
The audience will also have a say, with the people’s choice “Elkie Award” going to the producer of a video chosen by them during the festival.
Ben Heintz and Danny Willis will serve as masters of ceremony.
The Sequim Irrigation Festival queen and court along with Clallam County Fair royalty also will be on hand.
According to event organizers, since the festival began in 2006 with an audience of 100, it has grown into an annual community event that has become “standing room only” in a 600-seat auditorium.
