Meowgaritas and Mutts to raise funds for Olympic Peninsula Humane Society

PORT ANGELES — The Olympic Peninsula Humane Society’s annual dinner and auction, Meowgaritas and Mutts, is Saturday.

The event will be from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Vern Burton Community Center, 308 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

Individual seats are $50 and a table of eight is $400. To purchase tickets, call the Olympic Peninsula Humane Society at 360-457-8206.

This is the fifth anniversary of the event, which has raised more than $300,000 over the past four years.

Funds have been used to benefit the animals cared for at the humane society shelter, 1743 Old Olympic Highway.

Dinner will be catered by Little Devil’s Lunchbox.

A variety of one-of-a-kind items will be up for bid in silent and live auctions.

Among the items in this year’s live auction is “Three Amigos” by George Rodrigue, an artist known for his Blue Dog series of paintings. “Three Amigos” is a silkscreen print available only through the George Rodrigue Foundation to nonprofits seeking to raise money.

The matted and framed print cannot be purchased at any gallery and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and a special gallery stamp.

The Olympic Peninsula Humane Society (OPHS) has maintained an active presence in the community since 1947. OPHS shelters and cares for animals of all types.

A private, nonprofit corporation, OPHS is financed primarily by private donations and gifts. No animals are turned away, and annually, approximately 1,500 animals pass through the doors of the facility.

For more information or to volunteer, call OPHS at 360-457-8206.
