MEMORIAL SERVICES ARE SCHEDULED for two North Olympic Peninsula business leaders:
PORT ANGELES — A celebration of life for Paul Cronauer, a Port Angeles business leader, environmental innovator and owner of The Landing mall, will be held at The Landing at 11 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 1).
“All who knew him are welcome,” said Cronauer’s widow, Sarah.
Cronauer, 63, who had been fighting cancer, died in his Port Angeles home on Aug. 16.
After buying The Landing, 115 E. Railroad Ave., in 2006, Cronauer and his wife sought to make it a dynamic center of the Port Angeles downtown waterfront area.
He and Sarah opened Wine on the Waterfront there, a wine bar with food and live music; they made space for art in the Long Gallery upstairs and the Landing Art Gallery downstairs, alongside a pair of popular restaurants, Downriggers and Smuggler’s Landing.
He also installed a cutting-edge battery storage energy project at The Landing. In addition, he led beach cleanups and was the organizer of this year’s Klallam Earth Day celebration in Port Angeles.
PORT TOWNSEND — A memorial service for entrepreneur Frank d’Amore is scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9.
The service for the co-founder of the Pane d’Amore bakery will be in the USO Building at Fort Worden State Park.
His life and business partner, Linda Yakush, discovered that he had died during the night Aug. 8.
He was 60. The cause of death was complications of diabetes.
Elliott Yakush, who is organizing the service, said several people have been invited to speak but that it will be open for people to share stories about d’Amore and his life.
The event will not be catered, so attendees are encouraged to bring a dish to share.
The Pane d’Amore bakery sells bread across the North Olympic Peninsula.
