Memorial service planned for Port Townsend man

PORT TOWNSEND — A memorial service is planned April 28 for Emerson Davis, who died at the age of 23, according to his Facebook page.

Davis, who attended Port Townsend High School and Peninsula College, was found dead in an apartment building in Seattle after a fire last Monday, according to a post on the Capitol Hill Seattle Blog on Friday.

A memorial service and potluck celebration of life is planned at noon Sunday, April 28 at the Fort Worden Beach Shelter at 100 Harbor Defense Way in Port Townsend, according to Nicole Bae on her Facebook page. The notice said that the service would be on his birthday.

A Seattle memorial service is planned at 4:30 p.m. this coming Friday at Monica’s Village Place Community Room at 140 S. 23rd Ave., Bae said on Facebook.

A gofundme page to help his family with expenses had raised $7,850 of a $5,000 goal as of Saturday afternoon.

“Emerson (Emmett) Davis’ life was cut short unexpectedly at the age of 23,” says the message on the gofundme page, at https://www.gofundme.com/emerson-davis-memorial-fund#.

“To whom have met him, know him and loved him, it’s a devastating loss in the world. Our angel left too soon!

“His passion for life, friendships and living through experiences was contagious. He’s laugh and smile….well you know what it brought to a room of friends and family. “

Davis was found dead while Seattle Fire Department firefighters battled an intense blaze inside the 34-unit Catholic Housing Services apartment building at 14th and E Yesler, said the Capitol Hill Seattle Blog.

The cause of the blaze was under investigation, the blog said.
