Memorial Day ceremonies scheduled Monday

Memorial Day ceremonies are planned across the North Olympic Peninsula Monday.

Here is a list:

Port Angeles

• A traditional Memorial Day program with music by Port Angeles performers at the Captain Joseph House will be presented free and online at 1 p.m. Monday.

The Juan de Fuca Foundation for the Arts will stream the 30-minute program via its YouTube channel, youtube.com/JFFAPA, and on the JFFA Facebook page.

Filmed on the grounds of the Captain Joseph House in Port Angeles, this tribute features Gailey Music Studio students Emi, Lily and Mary Halberg performing the national anthem; Abby Sanford, Avery Saul and Katie Cobb singing “The Light of the Gold Star” and Doug and Jolene Dalton Gailey offering Iron & Wine’s “Love Vigilantes.”

Betsy Reed Schultz, founder of the Captain Joseph House Foundation, will speak during the program, as will JFFA founder Karan Hanan.

In addition, viewers who have lost loved ones who served in the military are encouraged to use the online chat and comments to remember them. Kayla Oakes and Kari Chance of the Juan de Fuca Foundation will welcome these comments.

• Unlike in past years, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1024 does not plan a ceremony at Port Angeles Memorial Park Cemetery on Memorial Day.
