Nobody had a ticket with all numbers in Tuesday’s multi-state Mega Millions lottery — played in Washington and 43 other jurisdictions — so the jackpot will rise to at least $290 million for Friday night’s drawing.
If business is brisk in the 42 states, District of Columbia and U.S. Virgin Islands in which Mega Millions is played, the jackpot could rise to $300 million or more. To win, a ticket must hit the five numbers plus the Mega Ball sixth number. Those odds are one in 176 million, say Washington State Lottery officials.
The estimated lump-sum cash value of Friday’s $290 million jackpot — which after taxes is taken in a 26-year annuity — is $205 million.
The latter option would allow the winner to walk away with $205 million before taxes instead of receiving $11.2 million annually for 26 years.
Tuesday night’s numbers: 1-4-6-11-14, Mega Ball 30.
