PORT ANGELES — The 132 KPly workers who have been laid off can meet employers who are hiring and learn about state services available to them on Friday.
Klukwan Inc., announced Friday that it would close the plywood mill at 439 Marine Drive in Port Angeles, and that all workers would be permanently laid off, in 60 days.
Workers have been collecting unemployment checks since November.
The re-employment orientation session is scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon in the Peninsula College Little Theater, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd., in Port Angeles.
“We’re bringing in our rapid response folks to talk about services and resources available,” said Bill Tarrow, communications director for the state Department of Employment Security.
“We’ll also explain that the clocks are reset on those programs now that the 60-day layoff notices have been issued.”
