PORT HADLOCK — Habitat for Humanity of East Jefferson County and the Rotary Club of East Jefferson County will host a community meeting at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
The meeting is in the Humphrey Room at the Jefferson County Library, 620 Cedar Ave. The meeting is to discuss development of affordable housing on a 17-acre parcel in Port Hadlock that used to be an airstrip.
The property, which was purchased by Habitat in May for $1.24 million — aided by a Jefferson County investment of $500,000 in federal funds from the American Rescue Plan Act — is adjacent to Chimacum Creek Primary School. Habitat is partnering with the Rotary Club to develop the site.
Current plans for the project include community gardens, green spaces, child care opportunities and more than 120 homes for families and individuals. Local residents, businesses and organizations are invited to come to the meeting to ask questions and make comments. For more information, visit www.habitatejc.org.
