A second count of ballots today changed no election outcomes in Clallam County.
McEntire, a 61-year-old Republican solidified his election-day lead over fellow Sequim resident Linda Barnfather, a Democrat, after the Clallam County Auditor’s Office processed 3,591 new ballots.
McEntire leads Barnfather by nearly 4 percentage points with 51.93 percent of 20,347 ballots cast.
The official count was 10,566 votes for McEntire and 9,781 votes for Barnfather.
For Barnfather to win, she would have to garner another 1,958 votes, or 62.54 percent, of the 3,131 ballots left to process.
“It seems to me our voters have responded well to our campaign message of keeping taxes level and doing what we can do to push the economy along,” McEntire said today.
Barnfather, 48, was not immediately available for comment.
McEntire held a 52.06 percent to 47.94 percent lead in the first count of ballots Tuesday.
Port Angeles City Council challenger Sissi Bruch maintained a narrow lead over incumbent Don Perry today.
Bruch had 2,186 votes — or 51.18 percent — of the 4,271 ballots cast in the city.
Port Angeles City Council incumbents Brad Collins (64.37 percent) and Dan Di Guilio (61.96 percent) maintained big leads over their challengers.
Incumbent Cherie Kidd also had 66.12 percent of the vote; her challenger had dropped out of the race but his name remained on the ballot.
In Sequim, Candace Pratt (66.43 percent), Laura Dubois (57.90 percent) and Erik Erichsen (51.82 percent) held their leads.
Voter turnout on Thursday was 46.78 percent, Rosand said.
The next count will be Monday.
