The two Master Gardeners will provide tips on choosing squash and pumpkin varieties, how to grow them, protect them from pests and disease, store them and how to save seeds from these plants at two informational events.
They will highlight the history, origins and classification of squashes and pumpkins and which varieties will cross with each other and which will not.
Muriel Nesbitt and Michelle Mangiantini will share some of their favorite cooking tips for harvested squash and pumpkins.
The “Green Thumbs Garden Tips” brown bag series is on the second and fourth Thursday of every month from noon to 1 p.m. in the County Commissioner’s meeting room at the county courthouse. Attendees may bring a lunch.
The “Class Act at Woodcock Garden” talks are held three Saturdays a month at 10 a.m. at the Master Gardeners’ Woodcock Demonstration Garden.
The series, sponsored by the WSU Clallam County Master Gardener Program and the Master Gardener Foundation of Clallam County, are free and open to the public. For more information, phone 360-417-2279.
