A husband and wife are the 2002 Marrowstone Island Citizens of the Year.
Nan and Owen Mulkey have lived on the island for more than 15 years, award organizer Billie Fitch said.
The award has been given out for three decades.
The Mulkeys are actively involved in emergency services.
Nan Mulkey takes Emergency Operations Center classes with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, while her husband works with amateur radio emergency services, Fitch said.
Nan Mulkey is a member of the Marrowstone Island Foundation board of directors. She was co-chairwoman of the Washington State University Extension Learning Exchange for several years, Fitch said.
