PORT ANGELES — If market conditions don’t improve between now and Thanksgiving, 35 employees at KPLY Inc. could be laid off.
The announcement was made by Ernie Van Ogle, general manager of KPLY, which produces plywood and treated paper overlays.
“We are on a curtail basis due to the market right now,” said Van Ogle.
“We will see what happens between now and Thanksgiving.”
The mill shut down last week for maintenance work and reopened Monday, but not with the full staff, Van Ogle said.
KPLY normally employs about 175 people.
