Eye on Jefferson: Marine Resources panel to hear about maritime program

The Jefferson County Marine Resources Committee will hear about the Port Townsend School District Maritime Discovery Program when it meets ­Tuesday.

The committee will meet from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Port of Port Townsend administrative building, 333 Benedict St., Port Townsend.

Sarah Rubenstein, maritime program director, will speak.

Also on the agenda are reports on current and upcoming projects.

Public comment is set for 7:50 p.m.

PUD commissioners

The Jefferson County Public Utility District commissioners will conduct a public hearing on the 2017 budget Tuesday.

The board will meet at 5 p.m. at the PUD building, 230 Chimacum Road in Port Hadlock.

Also on the budget is the appointment of a district auditor.

The board also expects to discuss the PUD’s participation in an emergency management plan and an interlocal agreement with the Chimacum School District.

Jefferson Healthcare commissioners

The commissioners of Jefferson County Public Hospital District No. 2 will conduct a public hearing on the 2017 budget Wednesday.

The board will meet at 3:30 p.m. in the Victor J. Dirksen Conference Room, which is located on the first floor of the Emergency and Specialty Services Building at 834 Sheridan St., Port Townsend.

Lodging tax advisory committee

The Jefferson County Lodging Tax Advisory Committee will discuss lodging tax fund allocations for 2017 when it meets Wednesday.

The committee will meet at 9 a.m. in the county commissioners’ chambers at the Jefferson County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St., Port Townsend.

The committee will consider 16 lodging tax proposals, an annual capital contingency allocation and the costs of administering the fund.

It will also discuss ongoing 2016 recommendations, including a request from the Quilcene Historical Museum.

Historic preservation committee

The Port Townsend Historic Preservation Committee will discuss two old applications, the Dennis-Halteman Building and the Clapp Building rehabilitation, as one new application for 1234 Franklin St. when it meets Tuesday.

The committee will meet at 3 p.m. in the third-floor conference room at City Hall, 250 Madison St.

The new application for 1234 Franklin St. is a home relocation with additions.

Arts commission

The Port Townsend Arts Commission will review its 2016 budget in a meeting Wednesday.

The meeting will start at 3 p.m. in the first-floor conference room at City Hall, 250 Madison St.

The commission also will hear about an application process seminar and discuss Angel of the Arts/Patron of the Arts planning.

Port Townsend schools

The Port Townsend School District board of directors will consider the superintendent’s performance when it meets Thursday.

The special meeting — an executive session closed to the public — will be at 4 p.m. in Room S-11 of the Gael Stuart Building, 1610 Blaine St.

Transit authority

The Jefferson County Transit Authority will conduct a budget workshop Tuesday.

The meeting will be at 1:30 p.m. in the authority boardroom at 63 Four Corners Road, Port Townsend.

The focus of the budget workshop will be presenting the 2017 operating and capital budget to the board.

Council, ­commissioners

The Port Townsend City Council and the Jefferson County commissioners have no meetings scheduled this week.
