MARROWSTONE ISLAND — Fort Flagler has seen an increase in harbor seals on its beach this year, according to Friends of Fort Flagler State Park.
The executive director of the state’s first dedicated marine animal hospital will discuss why in a virtual lecture at 6 p.m. Oct. 13.
Friends of Fort Flagler is excited to offer an opportunity to hear from one of the area’s premier experts on marine mammals,
Casey McLean, executive director of SR3 also will talk about when seals are beaches and other details of their lives as well as what people should do to help them.
This online program is offered free to the public through Friends of Fort Flagler.

Mclean has over 12 years experience working with marine animals, Friends of Fort Flagler said.
SR3 is a nonprofit organization that focuses on response, rehabilitation and research of local marine wildlife.
This fall they plan to open a marine animal hospital in the Des Moines marina south of Seattle.
