NORTH BEND, Wash. — The manhunt for a Monroe prison escapee has shifted.
Monroe police spokeswoman Debbie Willis says investigators believed Brandon J. Musto was in a wooded area near North Bend Friday morning.
Dozens of officers were searching off Interstate 90.
But new information indicates he was picked up in a vehicle later Friday morning.
Willis says police have no description of the vehicle and don’t know which way it may be headed.
Musto was just three months away from release when he escaped Wednesday night, apparently by climbing over a 10-foot fence.
Willis says a friend who gave him a ride and was arrested Thursday at McCleary is cooperating with investigators.
She says 59-year-old Rupert Soriano is held in the Snohomish County in Everett for investigation of rendering criminal assistance.
