PORT TOWNSEND — Jefferson County’s latest hero was recognized for his bravery Monday night as well as some funds for his medical expenses.
One month ago, Greg Bryant ran into a burning house and attempted to save the woman inside.
On Monday night at the Henry Miller Fire Station in Port Townsend, East Jefferson Fire-Rescue and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office honored Bryant with a plaque and a newly created award.
“It’s not often to see an act of heroism,” Undersheriff Tony Hernandez said.
“It’s not commonplace. Thank you, Greg.”
The Sheriff’s Office gave Bryant a plaque as well as $500 to help offset medical expenses related to burns he sustains during the rescue attempt.
