PORT ANGELES — A Port Angeles man has been sentenced to 12½ months in prison and 12½ months in a substance abuse treatment program after he pleaded guilty to two charges related to a brief high-speed car chase in June.
Erick Evan Miller, 46, pleaded guilty Tuesday to one count each of attempting to elude a pursuing police vehicle and first-degree driving with a suspended or revoked license.
Miller also has been sentenced to pay $1,300 in victim assessments and court fees, according to documents filed in Clallam County Superior Court.
The charges stem from Miller leading a Clallam County sheriff’s deputy on a brief car chase that reportedly reached speeds as high as 90 mph through Port Angeles on June 16.

According to Sheriff’s Office accounts, Miller ended the chase with Deputy Shaun Minks on Doyle Road south of U.S. Highway 101 by running on foot into a house and drinking at least one beer before being arrested.
Miller eventually was talked into coming out of the home and was arrested without incident after Port Angeles police arrived to assist.
The chase between Miller and Minks began at about 11:20 p.m. June 16, when Minks saw Miller appearing to driver faster than the 35 mph speed limit on Front Street near the intersection with Liberty Street.
Miller then turned south onto Liberty Street and drove through an intersection with a stop sign without stopping.
Minks attempted to pull Miller over, but Miller continued west via Lauridsen Boulevard, eventually reaching the house off Doyle Road.
Miller stopped at the Doyle Road house and ran inside from the green Honda Accord he had been driving.
