PORT LUDLOW — A 45-year-old Seattle man missing in the Paradise Bay area for five days was found Thursday after wandering outside with only the clothes on his back to protect him from the rain and overnight cold.
Michael May was last seen about 1 p.m. Saturday in Port Ludlow when he visited his recreational property after hearing distressful family news.
About 1:15 p.m. Thursday, Jefferson County Sgt. Ben Stamper responded to a report of a “suspicious man”‘ in an undeveloped area adjacent to Port Ludlow Golf Course, according to a Sheriff’s Office report.
When Stamper arrived in the area, he recognized May from distributed photos, and noticed that May no longer was wearing a jacket or hat.
Stamper drove May to his Port Ludlow property where his wife, Judy Hugueley-May, was staying.
“All I could do was stand there in shock,” Hugueley-May said when she first saw her husband after five days.
Medical personnel called
Stamper made arrangements for medical personnel to come to May’s home to assess his health.
His temperature was 93 degrees, said his wife.
“As soon as they took his temperature, they said, ‘We need to take you to the hospital,”‘ she said while waiting at Jefferson Healthcare hospital’s emergency room where her husband was being treated and further tests administered.
Hugueley-May said that on the ride to the hospital, her husband couldn’t say where he had been or what he’d been doing the past five days.
“He just kept saying, ‘I’m OK. I’m OK. I just went out for a walk,”‘ said Hugueley-May.
She said her husband was disoriented but knew who and where he was.
Once he arrived at the hospital, several tests were taken as well as a CT scan of his brain.
May was still being treated at the hospital on Thursday night, she said.
