LAKE SUTHERLAND — A 30-year-old man that police believe stole a car and wrecked it off U.S. Highway 101 near Lake
Sutherland was in the Clallam County jail today, Saturday, after a police dog found him in the basement of a nearby home.
Cody Rae Seaman was booked Friday for investigation of driving under the influence, residential burglary and taking a motor vehicle without permission. No bond had been set as of today.
Seaman had fled from the scene of a wreck on Friday after the car he was driving went over an embankment off the highway and was left suspended by trees, Port Angeles police said in a press release.
The car was determined to have been stolen, police said.
The city police assisted Clallam County Sheriff’s deputies and State Patrol troopers with Jag, a police dog, and his handler Cpl. Kevin Miller, searching for the man who fled from the car.
Jag tracked Seaman to the basement of an occupied residence and apprehended him, the police said.
“The residents were unaware that the suspect had entered their home,” the police said .
“Seaman was treated for his injuries and booked in the Clallam County jail,” the release said.
