PORT ANGELES – A man involved in a seven-hour standoff with police in February was convicted Wednesday of harassment.
Justin G. Mason, 26, refused to come out of a woman’s home Feb. 25 after making threats to her over a cell phone, police said.
Due to the presence of a gun in the home, police chose to use crisis negotiators to persuade him to come out.
Mason surrendered without incident after seven hours held up in the home in the 1500 block of West Fifth Street.
A jury convicted him in Clallam County District Court.
Harassment, a gross misdemeanor, can be punished by up to one year in jail and a $5,000 fine.
His attorney, David Fox, who is running for Clallam County prosecutor, said he expects him to serve a couple months in jail.
Mason, who remains in Clallam County jail on $1,000 bail, will be sentenced Tuesday.
