SEATTLE — A man rescued from a swimming pool at Sol Duc Hot Springs Resort remained in serious condition Tuesday in the Harborview Medical Center intensive care unit.
Manuel Sima, 22, of Boring, Ore., was found at the bottom of the pool Sunday afternoon.
He was unconscious when he was pulled from the water but was breathing after rescuers placed him in a recovery position.
A park ranger administered oxygen to Sima until a Fire District 1 ambulance took him to Lake Crescent Lodge, where he was transferred to a helicopter and flown to Harborview in Seattle.
Barb Maynes, spokeswoman for Olympic National Park, said it wasn”t known how Sima got into the pool or how long he remained there.
Personnel at the resort couldn’t explain the incident.
Sol Duc Hot Springs Resort is 12 miles inside Olympic National Park from U.S. Highway 101 at the west end of Lake Crescent.
Aramark Corp. of Philadelphia operates the resort as a concessionaire for the National Park Service.
