PORT ANGELES — A 74-year-old man was found deceased in a tent in the 700 block of East Seventh Street on Wednesday afternoon, said Port Angeles Police Sgt. Kevin Miller on Friday.
Deputy Coroner Nathan Millett said on Friday that William Survilo, a former California resident, appeared to die of natural causes.
There were no obvious signs of trauma, an on-site drug screen was negative and his sister said he had both a stent and nitroglycerin pills due to a heart condition, he said.
No autopsy is planned, Millett said.
Millett said the man was reported missing by his sister in California on Wednesday. She asked them to look for him because the two hadn’t spoken in a couple of days, he said.
Upon checking files, it was found that Survilo last was reported living in a tent along Peabody Creek, Millett said. So an officer checked the area and found the man deceased in a tent in which he had been living, he said.
