PORT TOWNSEND — A man who was found dead off Port Townsend on Monday has been identified as Robert Letinich of Olympia.
A cause of death had not been determined Tuesday, according to Jefferson County Deputy Prosecutor David Alvarez, who is acting as coroner.
No foul play is suspected, according to authorities.
An autopsy has been performed, but Alvarez said he had not seen the results.
Letinich, 58, was a woodworker who was employed by Rain Shadow Woodworks in Port Townsend.
Hannah Letinich, the man’s daughter, is in Port Townsend attending to details surrounding the death and was not able to provide details about Letinich on Tuesday.
Letinich’s body was discovered in the water between Point Wilson and Point Hudson on Monday after the small skiff in which he was riding apparently capsized.
Someone aboard a pleasure craft observed the capsized boat and body about a mile from shore and phoned it in to 9-1-1 dispatchers at 9:45 a.m.
Rescue workers arrived at the site in about 15 minutes.
They retrieved the body and towed the skiff back to Port Townsend Boat Haven, where personnel from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and the Port Townsend Police Department also were on the scene.
Letinich’s body was taken to Kosec Funeral Home in Port Townsend.
