PORT TOWNSEND — A man who fell overboard about 100 yards out into Port Townsend Bay was rescued Monday afternoon.
East Jefferson Fire-Rescue responded to the call at 3:49 p.m. Monday after a bystander nearby heard the man yelling for help, said EJFR spokesperson Bill Beezley.
The man, whose name was not immediately available, was transferred to Jefferson Healthcare Hospital after EJFR returned him to land.
The man fell from his sail boat, which he lives on, while he was boarding his dingy, Beezley said.
When crews rescued him from the water, he was shaking and had slurred speech.
It’s not clear why he fell, Beezley said.
