Man arrested after alleged knife threat at Port Angeles trailer park

PORT ANGELES — A transient man with a last-known address in Seattle is expected to be charged today in Clallam County Superior Court after allegedly threatening a man with a knife during an argument at a trailer park along U.S. Highway 101 on Sunday night.

Frankie Raymond Cooley Jr., 30, told police the knife was a butter knife.

He remained in the Clallam County jail Tuesday on $2,500 bail, booked for investigation of one count of second-degree assault.

He is expected to be charged in Superior Court today.

Cooley allegedly threatened another man at the Welcome Inn trailer park along Highway 101 with a knife during an argument about keys to a specific trailer at about 6:30 Sunday night, witnesses told Port Angeles police.

After Cooley was arrested, he told police he had a butter knife during the argument with the other man and threw the knife in the man’s direction.

An arrest report gave the following account:

Officers were called to the trailer park to the report of a possible fight involving a group of six people and that someone had a knife.

On the way there, Officer Andrew Neisinger pulled over a white passenger car on South C Street Extension, just to northeast of the trailer park, that had been seen leaving the park.

Neisinger spoke with the four people in the car and was told that Cooley had pointed a knife at one of the car’s passengers during an argument at the trailer park.
