PORT ANGELES — A 68-year-old man died after losing control of his truck on U.S. Highway 101 between Port Angeles and Sequim.
Washington State Patrol Trooper Eric Ellefson said Randolph Perry of Port Angeles apparently suffered a heart attack or some other medical condition while eastbound on the highway near the truck scales just west of the Old Olympic Highway intersection.
No other vehicles or individuals were involved in the incident that left track marks on both sides of the road.
According to a preliminary investigation, Perry apparently lost control of his 1986 Chevrolet pickup truck near Sutter Road about 8 p.m. Wednesday.
The truck flew up the right embankment, then came back down and crossed both eastbound lanes.
It then crossed the grassy center divider and westbound lanes, and made its way onto an exit ramp for the truck scales.
The truck continued into nearby brush, where it came to a halt.
