PORT ANGELES – The lottery changed its name to Washington’s Lottery years ago to convey the people’s “ownership” of the dollars.
And Jacque Coe, communications director for the state lottery, wanted to make sure North Olympic Peninsula people knew where their money is going.
Coe told about 50 Port Angeles Rotary Club members about the money’s distribution and processes at the Port Angeles CrabHouse Restaurant on Wednesday.
“We wanted people to know that not only is it their lottery, but it is also their programs that the money is going to,” Coe said about the name change.
By far the most common question Coe gets, she said, is where does all that lottery revenue go?
The answer isn’t exactly simple, but in a short movie presentation, four categories of recipients were identified – including winners, benefactors, operations and local economies.
