PAHS ’60 reunion
PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles High School Class of 1960 will hold its 50-year reunion today and Saturday.
A scramble golf tournament will begin at 10 a.m. today at Peninsula Golf Club.
A social gathering at the course is planned at 6 p.m. today.
Class members will tour the high school and receive an update on the community and the Port Angeles Education Foundation from Roger Oakes, their class valedictorian, who is now a doctor in Port Angeles.
Dinner, dancing and a reunion program will be held at the Elks Club at 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

Ratzman returns
PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles High School graduate Dean Ratzman will return to his hometown to perform “Hits of Great American Artists from the ’50s to the ’80s” tonight.
Ratzman will play at 7 p.m. at the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St.
His one-man show incorporates keyboard, trumpet, trombone and vocals.
Ratzman attended Berklee College of Music in Boston. He now lives in San Diego.
He has performed all over the United States, including Alaska, and also in Canada, Japan, Greece and the Caribbean.
The program is free and open to the public.

McComb concert
SEQUIM — McComb Gardens, 751 McComb Road, “Music at McComb” concert series will begin with the classical flutes of the Bradshaw Trio at 1 p.m. Sunday.
The free concerts will continue each Sunday at 1 p.m. through Aug. 29.
Refreshments will be served.
Attendees are invited to bring a picnic lunch and a blanket or chair for the concerts, which are 60 to 90 minutes long.
The Bradshaw Trio’s show will feature classical compositions by Friedrich August Kummer, Jacques Casterede and Johann Joachim Quantz.
Other concerts scheduled are Dixie-Blue Jazz Band playing jazz from “The Great American Song Book” on Aug. 8; Craig Buhler: Jazz 101 on Aug. 15; The Marmalades clarinet quartet Aug. 22; Craig Buhler: Chez Jazz with Sarah Shea on vocals Aug. 29.
‘Re-grand’ opening
SEQUIM — Around Again, a supplier of used building materials and home furnishings, will hold a “re-grand opening” event and a workshop from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday.
Around Again is located at 765 W. Washington St.
The grand opening will celebrate the addition of 3,500 square feet of warehouse space behind its current location.

SEQUIM — The Sequim Home Depot, 1145 W. Washington St., will host Joey Lagano’s No. 20 NASCAR Sprint Cup Show Car on Sunday.
The car show, a special workshop for children and a free water testing clinic are planned from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the business at 1145 W. Washington St.
During the free “Build a Race Car” workshop, children can put on orange Home Depot aprons, have their photographs taken next to the race car and then build their own race cars.
Home Depot Racing merchandise will be available for purchase.

Musical theater set
SEQUIM — The Sequim High School Operetta Club and Peninsula Family Theatre will present the musical”Rock Around the Block” tonight and Saturday.
The musical will be at 7 p.m. both nights at the Sequim High School auditorium, 601 N. Sequim Ave.
Operetta Club members recently conducted a two-week long theater workshop for more than 20 children in third through eighth grade in advance of the performances.
Tickets are $6 at the door.
Proceeds benefit the Operetta Club.
Benefit poker run
SEQUIM — The Sequim Valley Lions will host a benefit poker run for motorcycle and hot rod enthusiasts around Clallam County on Saturday.
The poker run will begin and end at Islander Pizza and Pasta Shack, 380 E. Washington St., with registration starting at 10 a.m. and the run beginning at 11 a.m.
At each stop, participants pick up a card. Whoever collects the best poker hand wins.
Stops include Junction Tavern, Port Angeles; Family Kitchen, Joyce; Hungry Bear Cafe, Beaver; Castaways Night Club, Port Angeles; and Islander Pizza and Pasta Shack, Sequim.
The trip takes three to four hours.
The cost will be $20 per driver and $15 per passenger. Proceeds will benefit Lions Club activities.
After the run, Islander Pizza and Pasta Shack will host a beer garden with music and awards for riders and their motorcycles and hot rods.
Raffles will be held and prizes will be given away.

Puffin cruises set
PORT TOWNSEND — The Port Townsend Marine Science Center and Puget Sound Express will sponsor a summer evening puffin cruise to Protection Island on Saturday.
The cruise will depart from the Point Hudson Marina at 6 p.m. and return at 9 p.m.
The cruise costs the general public $55. It is $50 for Port Townsend Marine Science Center, Burke Museum, Audubon or Washington Ornithological Society members.
Proceeds will benefit the Port Townsend Marine Science Center educational programs.
The Port Townsend Marine Science Center can’t guarantee puffin sightings.

Dems fish feast
PORT TOWNSEND — The Jefferson County Democratic Party will hold its 16th annual fish feast Saturday.
Doors will open at 4 p.m., with dinner starting at 5:30 p.m., at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds Erickson Building, 4907 Landes St.
This year, the Fish Feast will honor the career of state Rep. Lynn Kessler, who is retiring after 18 years of service.
Kessler recently received the nation’s top legislative honor, the National Conference of State Legislature and State Legislative Leaders Foundation’s “Excellence in State Legislative Leadership Award.”
Democratic candidates for local and statewide office are also scheduled to appear, including Steve Tharinger who is seeking to replace Kessler in the state House.
All Democrats endorsed by the Jefferson County Democrats are scheduled to speak.
The menu features a seafood dinner with barbecued salmon prepared by Dos Okies, and food supplied by Taylor Shellfish, Pane D’Amore and local farms.
The event also features a silent auction and a live auction.
Admission will be $41 for adults, $15 for youth 12-18 and free for those under 12.

Fort Flagler concert
PORT TOWNSEND — Jubilee will perform blue grass, country rock ‘n’ roll and gospel music at a Friends of Fort Flagler outdoor concert Saturday.
The concert will be at 7 p.m. in Battery Bankhead at Fort Flagler State Park.

Jubilee plays an array of acoustic string from banjo to mandolin and add in some harmonica parts.
The event is open to the public with admission by donation.
Poetry scream event
PORT TOWNSEND — The Poetry Scream, an event featuring five original poets, will begin at the Boiler Room at 8 p.m. tonight.
The event at the Boiler Room, 711 Water St., will be hosted by poet/playwright R. O’Donnell, who has been described as “a Gothic poet and illustrator in the tradition of Edward Gorey” by Robert Elder of the Chicago Tribune.

PORT HADLOCK — Household hardous waste can be taken to a mobile unit on Saturday.
Collection event will be offered from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Jefferson County Road Maintenance Shop, 371 Chimacum Road.
Jefferson County’s Department of Public Works Household Hazardous Waste Facility at 282 10th St., in Port Townsend will be closed Saturday because of the Port Hadlock event.
