PORT ANGELES — A lost hiker was found safe by the Clallam County Search and Rescue team.
Deputies investigated a report of a hiker lost in the area of Lake Aldwell at about 11:15 a.m. Wednesday.
Lashina Swagerty, 24, of Port Angeles was walking along the Elwha River in the area of the former Lake Aldwell when she became separated from her friend, according to the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office.
Swagerty’s friend searched for her for a while but eventually had to leave the area to access a phone to call for help.
Deputies arrived in the area and searched for Swagerty but could not locate her and called Clallam County Search and Rescue to the scene for assistance.
At about 1:30 p.m, Search and Rescue found Swagerty unharmed but lost about a quarter of a mile down the river in some tall bushes and downed logs.
Search and Rescue members escorted Swagerty back to the highway, where she was provided some water and a courtesy transport into town, the Sheriff’s Office said.
