Law enforcement in Clallam and Jefferson counties will engage in high visibility enforcement campaigns in late June to proactively curb impaired driving.
In the past five years, the Olympic Peninsula saw an average of 11 deaths per year in traffic crashes on the Olympic Peninsula, Target Zero Manager Joshua Ley said; more than half of those involved impaired drivers.
“While the vast majority of drivers in our region do not drive while impaired, we’ll be there to provide official rides, housing and front row courtroom seats for those who do,” Ley said in a press release
This June, local law enforcement will be out on extra patrols to detect impaired driving.
“Please avoid our hospitality by making safe plans for yourself, friends and family,” Ley said. “After all, jail food, or hospital food in the case of a crash, just aren’t the same as home cooking.”
