LIVE MUSIC: New year promises lots of groovin’

HAPPY NEW YEAR to all live music lovers and live music producers! May 2015 bring you many notes of delight.

Port Angeles

■ Tonight at Bar N9ne, 229 W. First St., the open mic, hosted by Rene Simons, starts at 9 p.m.

On Friday and Saturday, DJ RoBoTiX will spin a medley of music for listening and dancing from 9 p.m. on to midnight.

■ On Friday at the Fairmount Restaurant, 1127 W. U.S. Highway 101, there’s a jam session from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., followed by Serendipity, with special guest Rusty from High Country, until 8 p.m. Host Ed Murray says, “Bring your instruments for the jam.”

■ On Friday at The Dam Bar, junction of U.S. Highway 101 and state Highway 112, Gordon Bowlby hosts a jam session from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

■ On Tuesdays at the Port Angeles Senior Center, 328 E. Seventh St., Wally’s Boys play ballroom dance favorites from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. $5 cover; first-timers free.

■ On Tuesdays at The Lazy Moon Craft Tavern, 130 S. Lincoln St., Doug Parent plays his acoustic Americana from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

On Wednesdays, Ches Ferguson & Friends perform classic rock with a few originals thrown in from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Sequim

■ On Friday at Wind Rose Cellars, 143 W. Washington St., the Mogis, as in Jason Mogi and Kim Trenerry, play rock and folk from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

On Saturday, the Jenny Davis Trio (Jenny Davis, vocals; Chuck Easton, guitar; and Ted Enderle, bass) comes from Port Townsend to offer up original jazz from their forthcoming recording project. They perform from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

On Wednesdays, Bill Volmut plays acoustic rock and folk music from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

On Thursdays, Cort Armstrong presents a musical showcase from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

■ On Saturday at the Sequim VFW, 169 E. Washington St., Old Sidekicks plays classic country for dancing from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. It’s open to the public, and there’s no cover.

■ On Wednesday at Nourish, 1345 S. Sequim Ave., Victor Reventlow hosts the open mic from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., with sign-ups at 6 p.m.

Blyn

■ On Friday in Club Seven lounge at 7 Cedars Casino, 270756 U.S. Highway 101, Kry plays newer dance rock for from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

On Saturday, Billy Shew and 3 of a Kind play country, blues and rock for dancing from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

On Friday in the Rainforest Bar, listen to the laid-back country tunes of Buck Ellard from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

On Saturday, Trail Mix, with Neil and Bobbi Usselmann, play a variety of Americana from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Port Hadlock

■ On Saturday at Ajax Cafe, 21 N. Water St., Mick and Barry play acoustic classic rock and country from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Port Townsend

■ On Tuesdays at Sirens Pub, 823 Water St., there is a fiddler jam session at 7 p.m.

On Wednesdays, join in the open mic night starting at 9 p.m.

■ On Tuesdays at the Uptown Pub, 1016 Lawrence St., join in on an open mic with Jarrod Bramson at 9 p.m.

■ On Friday at the Cellar Door, 940 Water St., Brother Townsend with Billy Winters plays jazz at 9 p.m. $5 cover.

On Saturday, Matt Sircely & Friends jazz up the new year at 8:30 p.m. $3 cover.

On Tuesdays, join in the weekly jazz night from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. This week, Ed Donahue and the Chuck Easton Sextet play the free event.

■ On Saturday at the Pourhouse, 2231 Washington St., The Twins & One Easily Persuaded performs rock, soul and R&B from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

■ On Saturday at the Public House Grill, 1038 Water St., Sam Amazyan plays original compositions inspired by nature from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

■ On Saturday at Studio 36, on the third floor of the Mount Baker Block building at 211 Taylor St., Eric Lanzillotta will play experimental music that’s been described as “being inside a purring cat” on the Moog synthesizer in two performances at 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Donations accepted.

■ On Saturday at Hilltop Tavern, 2510 W. Sims Way, Three Chords and the Truth play classic country and Western tunes, plus plenty of honky-tonk, two-step, country waltz and more, from 8 p.m.

■ Every Monday, Trevor Hanson plays guitar at Alchemy, 842 Washington St., from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

■ Every Saturday, Skeeter Ezell plays covers of Roy Orbison and the like from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Snug Harbor Cafe, 281732 U.S. Highway 101.

On Monday, the monthly open mic with David Whipple is from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

■ Every Thursday, The Boiler Room, 711 Water St., host an all-ages open mic at 8 p.m. Sign-ups start at 7 p.m.

High notes

■ On Friday at the Fort Worden Commons Local Goods Café, 200 Battery Way, Port Townsend, local musicians are getting together for an open mic from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

■ On Sunday at the Laurel B. Johnson Community Center, 923 Hazel Point Road, Coyle, Lobo Del Mar brings music from around the world — Celtic bagpipes, Mexican, Hawaiian and more — with a family group at 3 p.m. It’s music for all ages. Admission is by donation. For more information, see www.coyleconcerts.com.

■ On Saturday at the Black Diamond Community Hall, 1942 Black Diamond Road, Power House plays with caller Lindsey Dono for a night of contra dancing. A beginners’ workshop starts at 7:30 p.m., and the dance gets going at 8 p.m. Donations are requested: $8 for adults and $4 for kids.
