MARCH CAME IN like a lamb on the North Olympic Peninsula, with lots of sunshine and mild winds. But for those heading to evening musical events, jackets are still very much needed.

■ Today at Castaways Restaurant and Night Club, 1213 Marine Drive, it’s Jerry’s country jam with guest singer Terry Roszatycki from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
■ Today at Bar N9NE, 229 W. First St., the open mic starts at 9 p.m.
On Friday, Scott Sullivan and Casey Northern play folk grass, rock ’n’ roll and more at 9 p.m. $3 cover.
On Saturday, DJ RoBoTiX spins a variety of beats for dancing from 9 p.m. into the night.

On Saturday, The Fabulous Hayshakers play country and blues at 9 p.m. $3 cover.

■ On Saturday at the Big Barn Farm, 702 Kitchen-Dick Road west of Sequim, Five Acre School’s annual “Beat the Blues Barn Dance” kicks off at 2 p.m. with Kate Powers and her group playing and Rosie Sharpe calling the family dance. Finishing off the afternoon is a community drumming event.
For the evening portion, Five Acre’s Soundwaves busts out marimbas after 5 p.m. Joy in Mudville follows with some stompgrass at 5:45 p.m.; then it’s Cort Armstrong with instrumentals at around 7:15 p.m. Joy in Mudville returns at 7:45 p.m.
Food and beverages will be for sale at the dance, along with a silent auction and raffle, in support of the school’s scholarship and equipment funds.
Tickets at the door: 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., $5; 5 p.m. till late, $15; all day, $15; ages 13 and younger, free.
■ On Saturday at the Black Diamond Community Hall, 1942 Black Diamond Road south of Port Angeles, the Possum Carvers play for the contra dance with Linnaea Chapman calling. Instruction at 7:30 p.m.; dance runs from 8 p.m. until about 10:30 p.m.
Admission is $8 for adults, $4 for those younger than 18 (or bring equivalent in goodies to share at break).
■ On Sunday at the Laurel B. Johnson Community Center, 923 Hazel Point Road, Coyle, Wild Rabbit brings folk-stomp Americana to the stage at 3 p.m. Admission is by donation and details are at www.coyleconcerts.com.
■ On Sunday, it’s an English country dance at the Rosewind Common House, 3131 Haines St., Port Townsend, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., with teacher and caller Nan Evans and the Rosewind Country Dance Band. A potluck dinner follows. A suggested donation is $5.
