PORT ANGELES – Lincoln High School will hold its first independent graduation Thursday at 7 p.m. at the North Olympic Peninsula Skills Center.
The school, founded in 1977, changed its name from Choice High School in 2006 after the alternative school was accredited.
Until this year, all students who completed requirements for a diploma participated in the Port Angeles High School graduation.
But this year, Lincoln graduates will have their own commencement.
The skills center is in the Lincoln Center, Eighth and B streets next to the old Lincoln Elementary School building at the corner of Eighth and C.
Lincoln’s first graduates-to-be have a wide array of plans after graduation.
Some want to be hairstylists, orthodontic technicians, nurses and musicians.
One thing the eight are sure of – without Lincoln High School they would not be graduating.
“One good thing about Lincoln is that you don’t get lost in the crowd,” said Andy Assumpcao, one of the eight.
“That is definitely what happened to me.”
