PORT ANGELES — The North Olympic Library System will host a reception for the opening of the “Second Look” art exhibition from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday.
The free reception will be at the Port Angeles Main Library, 2210 S. Peabody St.
The exhibit will feature artwork with hidden details and layers of detail and creativity that might initially go unnoticed. It challenges viewers to pause and engage more deeply with each piece.
“By offering a chance to see beyond the surface, ‘Second Look’ urges the viewer to take a moment, reflect and appreciate the art in a new light,” said Lindsey Shepherd, the exhibit’s curator. “You’ll see sculptures that play with shadows and texture, intricate drawings that reveal new details each time you look, and layered works of fine art that have been created in surprising ways.”
The exhibit will feature works by Port Angeles-based artists Thomas Connery, ceramics; Kaisa Lemley, acrylic paint; Lance Snider, charcoal and graphite; and Ariel Zimman, ceramics; as well as mosaics by Port Townsend’s Shelley Jay and hand-cut stencils and spray-paint pieces by Seattle artist Joseph Steininger.
Many of the pieces on display will be available for purchase.
The Port Angeles-based surf rock band Ant Bath will perform their new album, “Crystal Poncho,” in full during the reception.
Ant Bath features Cass Grattan on keyboard, Clay Murdach on drums, Brennan Van Blair on guitar and Phil Zarelli on bass.
Attendees will be able to take a second look at the exhibit during library hours through Feb. 15.
