Eric Lewis dropped “interim” from his title of administrator of Olympic Medical Center on Wednesday.
In a surprise move – but one widely expected – hospital commissioners unanimously made Lewis their permanent chief executive officer.
Commission President Harlan Knudson said the board had not looked elsewhere for an administrator, although they had discussed their choice intensively.
Lewis, who turned 45 Saturday, had been the hospital’s chief financial officer for eight years.
Commissioners named him interim CEO when former administrator Mike Glenn resigned to join Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia.
Lewis is a certified public accountant and was controller of Stevens Hospital in Edmonds for seven years before joining OMC. Before that, he had his own accounting practice in Seattle.
