PORT ANGELES — The League of Women Voters of Clallam County and the North Olympic Library System are accepting questions from residents for their upcoming candidate forums.
The forums, for races on the November general election ballot, are set for September and October and will be conducted via Zoom.
Concise, unbiased questions that relate to the position, its policies and the required leadership skills will be given priority. Similar questions will be combined.
The league strives to ensure that questions reflect concerns from across the county and does not release them to candidates in advance of the forums, according to a press release.
Questions should be emailed to info@lwvcla.org at least three days prior to each forum.
Currently, the following forums have been scheduled:
• Hospital District No. 2, Position 2, at 7 p.m. Sept. 30. Candidates Ann Marie Henninger and Gerald Stephanz have confirmed their attendance.
• Port of Port Angeles, Positions 1 and 2, at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 2. Candidates Colleen McAleer, Position 1, and Steven Burke, Position 2, have confirmed their attendance. Nate Adkisson has withdrawn from the race, but his name will still appear on the ballot for Position 1. Allen Sawyer, Position 2, declined to participate in the forum, the league said.
• Port Angeles City Council at 7 p.m. Oct. 2. Candidate Drew Schwab will read a two-minute statement only. Tyler Slater has withdrawn from race, but his name will still appear on the ballot.
• Clallam County Fire District No. 2, Position 3, at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 7. Candidates Mike Taggart and Bill Miano have confirmed their attendance.
