LAPUSH — A dentist from Sequim who disappeared after taking his boat out fishing last week remained missing Saturday, four days after he was last seen.
Richard Meyers, 50, who works three days a week as a dentist for the Quileute tribe, left LaPush alone in his boat Tuesday to go fishing.
A Coast Guard helicopter crew found his 19-foot pleasure boat aground near Goodman Creek, about eight miles south of LaPush, on Wednesday evening with no sign of Meyers.
The Coast Guard suspended its search for Meyers on Thursday.
On Saturday, it reported no new developments in the case.
The Clallam County Sheriff’s Department is treating Meyers’ disappearance as a missing person case, Capt. Ron Cameron said.
Boat in good condition
Meyers’ boat was reportedly found in fairly good condition, with the key in the ignition and the engine still running.
Damage to the propeller indicates that the boat might have been picked up by a wave and slammed down onto rocks, Cameron said.
