PORT TOWNSEND — Jill Landes was the leading candidate in the Jefferson County District Court Judge race Tuesday night, with two others nearly neck-and-neck for second place.
Two candidates will be on the ballot for the election ending Nov. 7 unless one candidate receives a clear majority when all votes are counted.
Landes, 56, of Port Townsend, received 3,112 votes, or 37.74 percent of the ballots counted Tuesday night.
Richard Suryan, 61, of Port Townsend, received 2,270 votes, or 27.53 percent.
Rebekah Ross, 49, of Brinnon, took 2,195 votes, or 26.62 percent of those counted Tuesday.
John Hynson, 61, of Port Townsend, won 658 votes, 7.9 percent of the votes counted Tuesday.
The results tallied only ballots received by Monday and Tuesday. On Tuesday night, 9,607 ballots had been counted. That’s 46.03 percent of the 20,867 mailed to Jefferson County voters.
An estimated 570 ballots were on hand but uncounted for races in Jefferson County, including those collected from ballot-drop boxes at 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Those ballots, plus ballots received later, will be counted Thursday.
