PORT TOWNSEND — The kraziness that is the Kinetic Sculpture Race reared its head again Sunday as scores watched and laughed.

Steve Mullensky of Quality of Light Photography of Port Townsend (360-643-0977) and a frequent contributor to the Peninsula Daily News, had his cameras aimed at arguably the most photogenic spectacle of the Port Townsend year.

Here’s a small gallery from Steve of Sunday’s tomfoolery. Just click on the arrows above the photo at right.

In the photo at right, the pilots of Full Steam Ahead shield their eyes from gazing at the snake-infused head of a Medusa sculpture, lower right, lest they turn to stone. They and the pilots of other kinetic kontraptions had to do battle with the mythological creature before they could exit the Fort Worden sand trap feature of the 2014 Port Townsend Kinetic Sculpture Race.
