The tenants who were in the apartments were frightened but unhurt, according to Valerie Lape, co-owner of the Liberty Apartments on Front Street near Liberty Street.

Van Hurst of Kent, happened to be in the area and snapped photographs of the wreck, including the huge hole in the wall left by the car.

Lape said that a car traveling west on Front Street traveled off the road and crashed through the building without slowing.

“It went through one apartment and pushed into the wall and into a second apartment,” she said.

The male driver had experienced a medical emergency, said Port Angeles Police Office Lilli Emery.

Both he and a woman passenger were injured in the crash and were taken to Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles.

Two tenants made homeless by the wreck were put into contact with the American Red Cross, the officer said.

Lape had no cost estimate of the damage on Saturday afternoon.
