PORT ANGELES — A commemorative historical Kalakala ferry token is now at auction at the eBay web site, www.ebay.com, to raise money for the restoration of the 1935 ferry that once plied the waters between Port Angeles and Victoria.
It is one of only two tokens minted with the year 1935, in memory of the Kalakala’s first year of service.
The sponsor’s name will be sandblasted on one of the captain’s cabin portal glass windows.
It also will be engraved on a brass plaque to be placed in the Kalakala theater auditorium, part of Kalakala owner Steve Rodrigues’ planned improvements for the vessel.
The winning bidder will receive individual perpetual unlimited visitation rights to the ferry and other future events. This token, and its benefits, may be gifted to future generations for as long as the Kalakala business exists in Washington.
