PORT ANGELES — A juvenile prisoner who fled during a medical appointment this morning was captured by Port Angeles police about 10 minutes later in an alley between Second and Third streets on Cherry Hill, police said.
“It was a fairly quick response and capture,” Port Angeles Deputy Chief Brian Smith said.
Four or five police officers responded immediately after the escape was reported about 8:25 a.m. and contained the area. The juvenile inmate was wearing an orange jump suit, Smith said.
“It was not one of our prisoners,” Clallam County Jail Superintendent Ron Sukert confirmed.
Smith could provide no further details about the prisoner.
Port Angeles Police Sgt. Glen Roggenbuck, who responded to the scene, was not immediately available for comment.
