PORT ANGELES — With the street fair outside in full sway today on the final day of the 20th annual Juan de Fuca Festival of the Arts, inside the Vern Burton Community Center, Sequim’s The Lorentzens will follow their appealing performance Sunday with a Memorial Day tribute at noon.
The musical act — which includes siblings Anne, Kathryn, Lisa and Mark, plus their father, uncle and other family members — competed on national television several years ago, reaching the final six on CBS’ “The Early Show” Singing Family Face-Off in 2006.
Sunday’s energetic, polished stage show by the family group featured a collection of popular tunes, unique covers of YouTube hits and upbeat, family-friendly songs.
Today’s concert will add a tribute to fallen servicemen, Anne Lorentzen said.
With both parents, John and Laura Lorentzen, being music teachers, the siblings started singing early on.
“We’ve been putting on music shows together since Lisa was 3,” Anne said.
In 2009, when they lived in Sparks, Nev., they entered the CBS music contest, and were selected to travel to New York to compete, both on stage and in the studio.
Mark, 27, moved to Port Angeles, where their father grew up, 2½ years ago, said Anne, who is 23.
A few months later, John was hired as choir director at Sequim High School, their mother started teaching music in the Chimacum School District, and the whole family followed, she said.
After two years, the family has connected to the community and enjoy performing in front of their neighbors.
“It’s fun to see people in the crowd you know,” Anne said.
The group is planning additional local performances this summer, including at the Clallam County Fair, and will record a
new album, she said.

As for the rest of the fest, the Main Stage will feature Sam Chase at 1:30 p.m., David Jacobs-Strain at 2:45 p.m., Polecat at 4:15 p.m. and Kaumakaiwa Kanaka’ole for the closing ceremony at 5:45.
The Chamber Stage will offer Witherow at noon, Erin Hennessey/David Rivers at 1 p.m.; Paul Chasman & the Pillars of Power at 2 p.m.; Twisted Roots at 3:15 p.m.; and Kaumakaiwa Kanaka’ole at 4:30 p.m.
