JOYCE — A team of counselors will be on hand at Crescent School today as students continue to deal with the shock and grief from Wednesday’s shooting inside a portable classroom.
The combined elementary, middle and high school resumes its normal schedule, and counselors are encouraging students to stick with their daily routines.
For students who have never experienced a loss like the death of Joe Rogers, the 13-year-old boy who took his life Wednesday morning, it’s important for them “to be able to see that life goes on,” said Anton Wishik, a Port Angeles High School guidance counselor who was called in to work with students and staff at Crescent.
Wishik and the other counselors from the Olympic Educational Service District’s regional crisis support team will begin working with students today to express their feelings about the boy’s violent death.
