JOYCE — Some Crescent water users are upset they were not notified immediately of possible water contamination.
But health and Crescent Water Association officials say they followed regulations regarding notification.
The concern over notification procedures follows Sunday’s failure of a water system chlorinator and a subsequent test showing the presence of E. coli bacteria in the drinking water supply.
The chlorinator was repaired Monday and more tests were conducted. Crescent School officials were also notified of the preliminary test results.
Two of four water samples taken Tuesday showed the presence of coliform bacteria, but no E. coli was found.
The presence of coliform bacteria prompted health officials to begin notifying water system customers of the health risk Wednesday.
