NOW THAT SUMMER is over and the fall rains are here, the time has come to get in shape to hit the slopes when the snow of winter arrives in the mountains.
What does that have to do with live music? Dancing!
It’s said dancing is a great way to get in a cardiovascular workout, to keep your limbs limber and, most importantly, to soothe your soul.
Whether or not you dance or just listen, live music is an important part of the arts on the Olympic Peninsula.
(However, it’s OK to get crabby this weekend in Port Angeles.)
Port Angeles

■ On Friday at Barhop Brewing, 124 W. Railroad Ave., Joy in Mudville lights up the dance floor from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. with roots, Americana, jam-band improv and more.

■ On Saturday, Hawaii Amor plays the music of Hawaii at Elliot’s Antique Emporium, 135 E. First St., during the 2nd Saturday Art Walk.
■ On Friday at the Fairmount Restaurant, 1127 W. U.S. Highway 101, Dave and Rosalie Secord and Luck of the Draw invite you to join the fun along with their guest Neil Usselman from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
On Sunday, join the country jam from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
