JOHN NELSON’S LIVE MUSIC COLUMN: Go out in style for Friday the 13th

FRIDAY THE 13TH is tomorrow.

So what?

Are you going to have your head in the sand? Stay under the covers?

Of course not.

You’re going out and dancing to live music.

Superstition be d—-d, you’re going to make good luck at one of the many clubs across the Peninsula offering live music.

Of course, if you hide yourself away Friday . . . well, you can find a place to go Saturday for more dancing fun.

Port Angeles

■ Today at Castaways Restaurant and Night Club, 1213 Marine Drive, Jerry’s country jam welcomes special guests Rusty and Duke playing country classics from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

On Saturday, Crossfire plays rapid-fire country from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

■ Today at Cafe New Day, 102 W. Front St., Dan Maguire performs original songs from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

■ On Friday at Bar N9ne, 229 W. First St., 2FAR (2nd Friday Art Walk) hosts Moongrass, a sextet featuring guitar, banjo, banjolele, washboard, bass, hi-hat and drum, playing country, blues and Americana at 8 p.m.

Lynne Roberson is the artist in residence. $3 cover.

On Saturday, trip back in time to the days of Moby Grape with the Jerry Miller Band rocking the stage at 9 p.m. $3 cover.

■ On Friday at Barhop Brewing, 124 W. Railroad Ave, country meets blues with the Hayshakers from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

■ On Friday at the Fairmount Restaurant, 1127 W. U.S. Highway 101, Dave and Rosalie Secord and the Luck of the Draw Band welcome guests Sharlo Joe and Jim Lind for a good ol’ time from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

On Sunday, join the country jam from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

■ On Saturday at the Dam Bar (formerly the Junction Roadhouse), 242701 U.S. Highway 101, Dee Coburn and the Night Beats with Jim Noble, Rodger Bigelow and Jim Armstrong perform from 8 p.m. to midnight.

■ On Saturday at Elliott’s Antique Emporium, 135 E. First St., Hawaii Amor performs the music of Hawaii from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

■ On Monday at the Bushwhacker Restaurant, 1527 E. First St., Charlie Ferris enlightens, energizes and entertains with music from the crooners of the 1950s and ’60s. Bring Dad along for his Father’s Day afterglow from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

■ On Tuesday at the Port Angeles Senior Center, 328 E. Seventh St., the Port Angeles Senior Swingers present Wally’s Boys playing ballroom dance favorites from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. $5 cover; first-timers free.

Joyce

■ It’s a Friday the 13th music jam at the Salt Creek Saloon and Grill, state Highway 112 and Camp Hayden Road, with Chip Norris coordinating from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Sequim

■ Today at Wind Rose Cellars, 143 W. Washington St., Cort Armstrong and friends play Americana, blues and folk from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

On Friday, Sam Amazyan plays acoustic guitar and cello jazz from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. No cover.

On Saturday, the Blue Holiday Band performs vocal jazz and blues from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

On Wednesday, Bill Volmut performs original tunes and covers from the 1960s and ’70s from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

■ On Friday at The Oasis Bar and Grill, 301 E. Washington St., get your Dixieland fix with the Dukes of Dabob from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

On Saturday, get out your dancing shoes for the Olympic Express Big Band from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

On Wednesday, there’s Joy in Mudville when Jason Mogi, Paul Stehr-Green and Colin Leahy get together to play roots, rock and jam-band improv from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

■ On Friday at Stymie’s Bar & Grill at Cedars at Dungeness, 1965 Woodcock Road, Tres Locos, with Kevin Lee Magner, Scott Bradley and Taylor Ackley, performs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

■ On Saturday at the Sequim VFW, 169 E. Washington St., High Country gives a great dose of music therapy from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. No cover; open to the public.

On Friday in the Rainforest Bar, Buck Ellard comes back for a solo show from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

■ On Saturday, Dave and Rosalie Secord and the Luck of the Draw Band play at the second annual Classic Car Show and silent auction to benefit the Port Angeles Food Bank at Laurel Place Senior Living, 1133 E. Park Ave., Port Angeles, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The band plays from 10 a.m. to noon.

Admission is a donation of food or $5 lunch purchase.

■ On Saturday at the Port Angeles Farmers Market, corner of Front and Lincoln streets, Dale Hilderbrand provides the music from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

■ On Saturday, you can enjoy Fort Flagler State Park for free and go to the Beachcomber Cafe, 10541 Flagler Road, Nordland, to hear the music of Bruce and Deborah Jakola.

No Discover Pass is required.

The Jakolas will host a live open-mic event starting at 3 p.m.

■ On Sunday, the Rosewind Common House, 3131 Haines St., Port Townsend, hosts an English country dance and potluck with music by the Rosewind Country Dance Band with Nan Evans calling from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., with the potluck dinner after the dance. $5 suggested donation.

■ On Monday, Dave and Rosalie Secord and the Luck of the Draw Band travel down to Brinnon for a benefit for the Brinnon Booster Club, 151 Corey St., from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
