PORT ANGELES — A girl really can have more fun, especially if she is a standout Jet Ski rider in mostly a man’s sport.
Danette Curry of Salem, Ore., on Sunday won both divisions in which she was competing, including an expert classification that is dominated by men, on the second day of the fourth annual Bill Koenig Jettin’ the Strait event in Port Angeles Harbor.
Scores of area residents, families and visitors crowded Hollywood Beach and the City Pier in sunny but windy weather to watch dozens of competitors from around the Pacific Northwest in the Jet Ski races.
Curry was one of five double winners as she captured first in expert run-about 1200 LTD and first in women’s pro-am.
