PORT TOWNSEND — If you are good at Googling on the computer, then catching a bus in Jefferson County just got a whole lot easier.
And soon you’ll be able to do it in Clallam County and over the water toward Seattle and Tacoma.
Jefferson Transit’s bus routes and schedule were integrated into Google Maps’ transit database Monday — meaning you can now search for the best way online to get from Point A to Point B by using public transportation.
In a brief demonstration at the Fort Worden State Park Commons on Monday, Marcy Jaffe, who worked on the new system for the transit agency, showed how to plan an entire trip in or out of Jefferson County via public transportation in fewer than 30 seconds on her laptop computer.
“It’s exciting,” Jaffe said.
“Now, without any extra effort the site will ask you how you want to get there.
“It will even show you the cost to drive versus the cost of using transit.”
